The world economy may be shot to pieces, but a leading tyres company is on target to reach its hospital fund-raising goal almost half a year early.
Economic pressures haven’t stopped tyres firm Goodyear Dunlop’s friends and associates striving to raise £50,000 to build a playground for the Childhood and Adolescent Mental Health Service ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
They gave themselves a year-and-a-half to reach their £50,000 target, but after just 10 months they have already donated a total of £48,000.
Since April 2008 fundraisers have been working hard, with a range of activities taking place including a charity ball, dress down days, truck tyre rolls and a bicycle ride from the company’s head office in Birmingham to Paris.
Fundraisers for the BCH are eternally grateful for the extra cash which goes towards making being in hospital a more comfortable and less distressing experience for children and their families.
Hats off to everyone at Goodyear Dunlop who is working to make this possible.
