With schools getting set for the Easter break and a welcome Bank Holiday weekend on the horizon, TyreSafe has launched a new tyre awareness campaign aimed at all those who drive with children on board.
Youngsters can spend three hours a week buckled into a car with their parents and around 96 hours per year with grandparents at the wheel, according to recent surveys. And it doesn’t end there, with friends, childminders and guardians also regularly ferrying them to nursery, school, clubs, parties, etc.
However, with the news that one in four cars may be driving with illegal or poorly maintained tyres, this raises extreme cause for concern, and has prompted the UK’s leading tyre safety group to launch its “Home Safely on Safe Tyres” campaign.
Stuart Jackson, the Chairman of TyreSafe, warned: “With child care responsibilities spread among different people, many of whom will be driving their young charges to and fro, it’s important that everyone in that care network regularly makes sure their car’s tyres are safe.
“Car tyres are the only part of the car in contact with the road, which makes their maintenance essential for road safety. Whether you are a parent, grandparent or guardian, checking your tyres once a month is crucial for keeping yourself and your passengers safe on the road. Let’s make sure we get them home safely on safe tyres.”
The “Home Safely on Safe Tyres” campaign is driving home the message: “Child care – Tyre care” and urges vehicle owners to ensure their tyres are safe and legal, which means checking the tread, air pressure and general conditionl.
With flights and hotels abroad more expensive during these times it is expected that many UK families will be taking day trips and mini breaks in the UK during the holidays, which makes tyre checks even more imperative.
etyres supply and fit a wide range of tyres to suit all vehicles and budgets. Plus its mobile tyre fitting service means customers who need new tyres don’t have to risk driving to a garage on damaged or illegal tyres to have them replaced. etyres bring the tyre depot to customers doorsteps, whether they are at home or work, to fit replacement tyres and carry out puncture repairs.
