It came as no surprise to us at etyres when the latest round of sales figures were released that online businesses were clear winners.
Shop Direct, owner of Littlewoods Direct, reaped the rewards of its shift to the internet and online sales soared by 44% in the six weeks to January 2 against the same period last year, which is in line with our tyres sales figures.
‘Online is becoming increasingly the channel of choice for customers,’ said chief executive Mark Newton-Jones.
Even big high street names, including Debenhams and Thorntons, saw dramatic increases in web sales boost their December sales figures.
And the good news continued into the New Year for us. On January 5th we had the largest number of hits on our website in its history and our year-on-year growth is at almost 40%!
Our experience underlines the benefit of e-commerce which allows low-cost business models to deliver a high quality service to customers at a fraction of the cost of traditional retailers.
Whether it’s run-flat tyres or Nike trainers, consumers will surf the net to get the best deals.
