The importance of tyre safety and helping to keep UK motorists and roads safer, has been given a huge boost with the announcement that TyreSafe has been awarded full charity status.
The landmark achievement has come as the organisation celebrates its tenth anniversary year and signals the beginning of a new chapter for the group and will provide a ‘springboard’ to boost its effectiveness in driving home its potentially life-saving message.
Stuart Jackson, Chairman of TyreSafe, commented: “TyreSafe is delighted have been awarded charity status, which is a major step forward for tyre safety awareness.
“The network of supporters is a critical contributor to the campaign’s effectiveness and becoming a charity allows us to broaden the spectrum of stakeholder organisations that TyreSafe can work with. That provides us with a springboard to further increase the reach of the potentially life-saving tyre safety message which has been achieved over the past ten years.”
Charitable status opens new doors and fresh opportunities offering TyreSafe the chance to work with a wider range of organisations which will help it maximise the effectiveness of its work.
The achievement underlines its non-commercial and not-for-profit credentials and is a major recognition of the importance of its work.
Set up in 2006 as a not-for-profit organisation, TyreSafe is committed to reducing the number of tyre-related incidents on the UK’s roads by educating Britain’s motorists on the importance of correct tyre maintenance and the dangers of defective and illegal tyres.
By working closely with a wide range of commercial and government organisations such as the Highways England, RoadSafe, police forces, fire services, councils and many other bodies, TyreSafe has helped to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured each year in a tyre related accident by 31 per cent during the last decade.
In recognition of its efforts in improving road safety, TyreSafe was awarded the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award in 2009.
