The ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring took place on the  20th of May to the 21st of May this year. This was another spectacular event that captured the attention of thousands of fans. Let’s take a closer look at some events from it.

The Nürburgring is a massive motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Nürburgring is frequently used to test handling and speed of vehicles by manufacturers. There are multiple tracks at the Nürburgring that feature different challenges.

The ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring is one of the world’s most prestigious endurance races that tests the cars, the drivers and the teams to their limits. This year marked the 51st running of the event, this is a huge milestone for any event. 

The Frikadelli Racing Team Become the First Italian Team to Win The ADAC TotalEnergies 24h

This year marked the first year of the first win for an Italian and the first non-German marque to win the race since Zakspeed’s Chrysler Viper GTS-R in 2002. Thousands of spectators witnessed the Frikadelli Racing Team with the Ferarri 296 GT3 take the win and write themselves into the history books. The Frikadelli team’s 296 GT3, crewed by David Prittard, Felipe Laser, Nick Catsburg and Earl Bamber took the win after 162 laps, the longest distance ever completed at the German event.

On their way to victory, they endured a puncture after five hours, luckily, this happened shortly before the end of the lap. Ferrari’s historic overall win was backed up by a victory in the Pro-Am class.

The Determination and Spirit of Giti Motorsport by WS Racings ‘Girls Only’ Team

There were so many incredible moments during this prestigious event, another is the Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing’s ‘Girls Only’ team of Célia Martin, Fabienne Wohlwend, Pippa Mann and Beitzke Visser, their determination and spirit to finish the 51st ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring endurance race with technical issues and no-fault crashes. 

Starting the event on a high in the all-new G82 series BMW M4 GT4, with all-women management and pit team, started at the very rear due to a controversial technical offence. Technical issues continued through the weekend with the transponder for time measurement breaking down which requires an immediate and lengthy change and a no-fault accident early on the Sunday morning broke the rear axle. Despite this, with grit and determination, they fought their way back from two laps down to lead the SP8T class.

The full crowd was driving the team forward, the team carried out lengthy and complex repairs to get the car back on the track. When they were back on the track, they produced some very strong lap times.

Final Thoughts

There were thousands of people there to experience another historic ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring event. The electric atmosphere coupled with exciting races certainly made this a memorable event filled with drama, suspense and excitement.
