Giti Tire Motorsport Returns to Nürburgring in 2022

After a first-class win in the high stakes SP8 category at the 2021 Nürburgring 24-Hour, Giti Racing’s all-female team return for its 2022 iteration in a brand new BMW M4 GT4. It is set to be one of four cars representing Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing on the track.

The BMW is going to be driven by Carrie Chreiner, Pippa Mann, Fabienne Wohlwend as well as Célia Martin. As previously, the team will be entirely composed of women both inside and outside of the cockpit. The team’s leader is Natascha Sonnen.

Additionally, the other vehicles racing within the Giti Tire Motorsport roster will be a BMW 328i as well as a Golf VII GTI in the VT2 class – a competitive class indeed. More competitive still is the V6 class, which will for the first time see a Porsche Cayman GTS adorned with GT Radial’s insignia.

This season’s cars are all said to run on GitiCompete GTR1 tyres. These tyres form a wide range of competition racing tyres which are utilized in events worldwide. The technological findings are then taken from the track and used to develop Giti Tire’s everyday portfolios for passenger vehicles – ‘from the racetrack to the streets’.

As over 240,000 spectators are expected to occupy the packed-out stands with millions of viewers worldwide tune in on the action, Giti Tire’s #gitiracing marketing activity will be kicking things up a notch and moving into top gear.

The 50th ADAC TOTAL 24h Race is set to take place across the weekend of May 26th until May 29th.

Managing Director of Product Technology at Giti Tire Europe Stefan Fischer said “The Nürburgring Endurance Series, which forms part of the build-up to the Nürburgring 24-Hour, has been challenging with a crash in race one, race two cancelled due to the weather and then a completed race three.

“While not ideal we have worked tirelessly to find the right balance between the new BMW M4 GT4 and GitiCompete GTR1 tyres so come qualifying and race day the car will be ready to perform for the #gitiracing all-female team to defend their SP8 class crown.

“As always, after the race, we will look at exactly what we’ve learned from what is one of the most challenging events that a tyre can be subjected to and see how this can be adapted for our everyday passenger car portfolios, so we continue to deliver maximum performance and safety.”
