Get your slow puncture fixed by e tyres Peterborough at home or work

May 20, 2013

On Sunday 19th May we held a Tyre Safety Day at Peterborough Garden Park. As well as the daily business of fitting new tyres, new batteries and fixing punctures, we are trying to promote the importance of checking tyres regularly yourself as your tyres not only keep you safe on the road, but looked after properly, can save you money by lasting longer and using less fuel!

The surprising fact we discovered is how many of us are driving around with suspected slow punctures. For a whopping third of the cars we inspected, the owner said they suspected they had a slow puncture and were regularly topping up the air! Driving on a tyre with less pressure than the rest will not only cause the tyre to wear more quickly, makes the car use more fuel, but it also increases the risk of further, irrepairable, damage to the tyre. Simply getting the tyre checked by e tyres Peterborough, and getting the slow puncture fixed for a flat £25 is certainly a lot cheaper than discovering you need a new tyre much earlier than you should!

Most people we spoke to said that they don’t get their slow puncture on their tyrelooked at, as they can’t find the time and it is too much trouble to take it into the garage. If you call e tyres Peterborough, we will come to you to check they tyre and fix the puncture while you are at home or work, so you don’t need to worry about taking it anywhere!

Call Alex or Marc at e tyres Peterborough on 01733 822800 if you would like to arrange for us to carry out a Free Tyre Safety check session at your work or if you have a slow puncture or flat tyre that needs to be repaired or replaced.

3 simple tyre checks could save your life!

May 13, 2013

Alex e tyres Peterborough writes:
Checking your tyres every now and then, particularly prior to an MOT or when you plan a long journey, could not only keep you and your family safe on the road but can also save you money, as underinflated tyres not only wear quicker but they increase fuel consumption!

An inquest in Bedford has recently concluded that a young man, aged only 19, lost his life when his car span off the road due to his tyres being just below the legal tread limit. The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm, however, we would advise changing the tyre if it is 3mm or less as below 3mm the performance of the tyre is compromised. To read more information on the story click here.

The all important tyre checks:
• Check the tread on each tyre using 20p! Insert the coin into the tread grooves. If the outside rim of the coin is completely covered, there is sufficient tread, if some is visible it indicates the tyre needs to be changed. Check for uneven wear – sometimes the tyre may look fine from the outside, but is worn on the inside.

• Look for any damage including nails, cracks or bulges, indicating a repair or replacement may be required

• Check the tyre pressure is correct and inflate to the correct psi if it is low (if one in particular is low keep an eye on it, as it may suggest a slow puncture). You can find the correct tyre pressure in your Manufacturers handbook, at most fuel stations or feel free to call us!

etyres Peterborough are a family run business and we will come to your home or work to fix a puncture or supply and fit your new tyres, at competitive prices!
