The German player in the global tyre market has been through the financial mill in the last few years, but has regained some of its old stability by focussing on its core business. The tyres it produces are amongst the best in the world and are fitted as OE on most European manufactured cars, including BMW, Mercedes and Volvo.
The company, often referred to within the tyre trade as Conti, was founded in 1871 and started manufacturing pneumatic car tyres in 1898. Since then the company has developed continuously. Today, Continental Group is involved in chassis development and brakes through its Continental Teves subsidiary. It recently achieved its goal of developing a car - a modified VW Golf - that could stop from 100kph in under 30metres. The test vehicle used technology devised from Continental's brakes, engineering and tyre divisions. Although that car will not be seen on the roads, the research carried out will be used to develop tyres and braking systems capable of reducing braking distances in the future.
Continental's test and research facilities have produced some radically different approaches to tyre tread design, including winter tyres designed to retain snow between the tread blocks for added traction on snow and ice.
The company offers a typically Germanic standard of professionalism, high standards and a product that can always be relied upon.
We sell the entire range of Continental car and van tyres and will fit them at a location of your choice.
