Tyres suffer because of winter pot-holes
January 24, 2010

TV prestenter and Daily Mirror columnist, Fiona Phillips, has revealed she is one of the many thousands of motorists who have had to fork out for new tyres and other car repairs after driving over a pot-hole.  Tyres have popped and wheel rims buckled as unlucky motorists have fallen victim to crater-like pot-holes all over the country.  Fiona says road users are up in arms and venting their anger at local councils who appear to pay scant regard to the condition of our roads.

Other tyre news this week reveals that Michelin are set to invest £600m in manufacturing tyres in China within the next two years.  Michelin are one of the best quality tyres on the market and hopefully this could lead to lower prices.

Tyres for cold weather
January 12, 2010

Who would have thought that our tyres would be such an issue this winter. Little did we know or think that we would need cold weather tyres in the UK. Well it seems that with the weather in the last few weeks that we do. Not just for snow but as Quentin Willson, t v presenter and Daily Mirror Columnist suggests for all winter driving. In many parts if Europe this as been accepted for decades. In Germany to be without winter tyres between November and February invalidates insurance. There has been a big demand for winter tyres here in the last few weeks and stocks are low. Perhaps given our recent winters we do not need to go that far but it does seem to make sense if and when the snow arrives. What price safety and being able to get around
