When thinking about changing tyres, very few people consider the condition or age of their spare tyre.  If your spare tyre is over 10 years old and never been used it will still be worth changing, if it is bald or damaged it deifinitley needs changing.  When you check your tyre pressures, make sure you check the pressure in the spare aswel, as the last thing you want is to put on your spare after a puncture and realise that is also flat.  An economy or mid range tyre to be used as a spare is a very sound investment and one well worth making. It is not until you need it that you will be glad you checked your spare is in good order.
