TYRES     EASTBOURNE BLOGS

Hanging on to old tyres can be an expensive mistake
May 29, 2009

Drivers might think they are saving money by not replacing their old, worn out tyres, but the truth is it can be a false economy.

Damaged or illegal tyres are not just a safety hazard, putting drivers and passengers at risk, because they affect the cars handling, they can also lead to costly problems.

In the last few months we’ve noticed police forces around the country have been carrying out safety check operations on our roads and handing out fixed penalty notices to a drivers with defective tyres.

But what a lot of motorists don’t realise is that as well as fines and points on their licence, if they have an accident and their tyres are illegal it can void their insurance policy.

In other cases where an accident happens, vehicle owners can lose their no-claims-bonus.

Nobody wants to splash out loads of money on new tyres, but by coming to etyres you can get premium or good quality tyres at up to 40% less than the traditional high street depots because our overheads are so low.

We operate a mobile tyre fitting service so we don’t have expensive depots to maintain and we pass the operational savings on to our customers in the form of lower prices.

And we save our customers time and hassle by fitting the tyres at a location of their choice, at home or work.

Check Your Tyres to Save Fuel – and the Planet!

Want to know how to save a bit of cash and help the environment all in a matter of minutes?

Just check your car tyres are properly inflated!

Making sure you’ve got the right amount of air in your tyres really can save you money on fuel at the pumps, prolong the life of your tyres and cut down on air polluting CO2 emissions.

Eastbourne Borough Council carry a guide on their website about how to run your car more fuel efficiently.

It says: “Under inflated tyres create more resistance when your car is moving, which means your engine has to work harder, so more fuel is used and more CO2 emissions are produced.

“Simply check and adjust your tyre pressures regularly and also before long journeys. This will also help to increase the life of your tyres.

“Under inflated tyres increase CO2 but over inflated tyres can be unsafe so check your car manual for the correct tyre pressure. Remember, a car with a heavier load may need different air pressure in the tyres.”

Remember to check your tyres once every couple of weeks and if you think you’ve got a slow puncture give etyres a call.

We can repair punctures for a fraction of the cost of a new tyre and we offer the service free of charge to all our existing customers.

Even if you need a new tyre we’ve got the best deals, because we offer a free mobile fitting service which means we don’t have expensive garages and overheads, so we pass the savings on to our customers in the form of lower prices.
