Quentin Willson warns, Don’t take risks with part worn tyres

August 10, 2011

Joe tyres Bristol writes: Excellent motoring correspondent Quentin Willson has raised major concerns in a recent Sunday Mirror column on motorists who buy part worn tyres.  This is what he had to say on the matter, under the headline “Old and Tyred: Terrifying news from Goodyear and Dunlop”  ”Lots of punters are buying part worn tyres, which now represent 12% of the entire UK market or around four million motors.  Birmingham Trading Standards recently tested some part worns and found that 90% of them were unsafe, including one set that was 17 years old. Everyone’s running tyres down to the canvas – fitters report that 57% they’ve replaced are illegal. We’re all short of cash, but don’t take risks with those four life-saving circles of rubber”
