Nexen has scooped a coveted design award for for a tyre which features superior drainage performance on wet roads to suit the European climate.
The Nexen N’FERA SU1 UHP tyre, which won the 2014 German iF Design Award, boasts an asymmetric pattern that delivers excellent cornering and stability at high-speed driving.
Nexen tyres are popular with etyres customers, because they deliver solid performance without a premium price tag. The N’FERA SU1 UHP, which was commended for its dynamic design, was highly rated for the way it reflects the powerful image of typhoons through simplified lines.
The iF Design Awards, run by the Hanover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, is an internationally renowned design competition with a rich history dating back over 60 years. It is one of the top three design awards in the world, along with the Reddot Awards and IDEA.
The judges highly rated the tyres design, quality, materials, innovation, functionality, convenience and safety.
The continuous improvement achieved by Nexen in terms of its design competitiveness is shown by the various design awards it has won: an iF Design Award in 2011, a Reddot Award in 2012, and a Special Mention at the German Design Awards 2013, a first for the tyre industry; it has also won a Japanese G-Mark Award.
More recently the tyre maker won an American Good Design Award for all of its three entries, being the first Korean tire maker to do so.
