It is just over two weeks since the new EU tyre labelling law came into effect in the UK, but if you missed the initial news reports we thought we would run a reminder about the key benefits for motorists.

As of 1 November, all tyres produced on or after 1 July 201, must feature new labelling information giving details about the performance of the tyre in three key areas – fuel efficiency, wet braking and external noise levels.

If you take advantage of the new law and the information it delivers, it will affect the way you buy tyres and could make driving safer, more economical and better for the environment.

Using the familiar EU energy efficiency label commonly associated with household electrical appliances, such as fridges and washing machines, you will be equipped with information to make a more informed choice than ever before.

The label rates the wet grip and fuel efficiency on scales graded from A to G, while noise level is indicated by a speaker icon emitting one to three sound waves.
