It comes as no surprise to us that almost two thirds of drivers expect to get ‘ripped off’ by garages and mechanics, according to research for the AA.
Hardly a day goes by without one of our tyres fitters turning up to a customer who has been wrongly told their tyres are illegal or that they need a new set to pass an MOT.
Fortunately, many of them take the time and trouble to shop around for the best deal – which leads them to us – and when our teams turn up to fit their tyres at their home or work, we regularly break the good news that the old tyres have still got plenty of tread left on them.
Then, when the customer needs new tyres in the future, you can guess where who they turn to – us!
Infact, we’ve come across endless examples of customers being taken for a ride by garages. There are the ones who think they’ve got a great deal – only to see the bill get loaded with hidden extras. And then there’s those who fall for it when the mechanic takes a sharp intake of breathe before annoucing the customer simply can’t leave without having new brake pads, discs, etc.
According to the AA/Populus poll of more than 17,000 AA members, 62% worry about being overcharged when their car is in need of servicing or repair and almost half (48%) expect to be stung for a bill for more than was originally quoted.
And, shockingly, more than half (52%) don’t shop around to get the best value! At etyres our prices for a free mobile fitting service re up to 40% cheaper than the leading high street tyre chains and garages, because we don’t have to load our prices to cover massive overheads.
