Reading: Hamilton gets back into the groove with old tyres at Goodwood

Lewis Hamilton is looking forward to getting back into the ‘groove’ when he heads to the Goodwood Festival of Speed today and gets behind the wheel of the MP4-23 Formula One car he won the 2008 world championship in.

“It’s a beautiful car, full aero kit, grooved tyres, lots and lots of grip,” the British racing ace said. “I can’t wait. And I’ll also be driving Alain Prost’s ‘86 car.

“Goodwood is the perfect place to get to meet all the fans who are always there supporting me and cheering me on.”

It will also be a great opportunity for all those F1 fans who can get to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone next weekend to see the racing ace in action.

Next weekend Lewis will be hoping to repeat his Silverstone success of 2008, when he took the chequered flag on home soil. Back then the cars were still sporting the grooved tyres Hamilton referred to, having changed to slicks last season.

Hamilton is currently top of the driver standings with 127 points after nine races, ahead of his McLaren team mate and current world champion Jensen Button on 121.
