It is vitally important that motorists make sure their vehicle tyres are in a safe and legal condition ahead of the winter months. This is why etyres Stockport was happy to spare a few hours and team up with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to promote this vital message during Road Safety Week.
etyres Stockport was singled out for ‘special thanks’ by Frances Egerton, road safety officer for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, after taking part in the campaign to raise awareness and focus drivers attention on the importance of considerate motoring and tyre safety at Sainsbury’s in London Road, Wilmslow.
etyres Stockport urge motorists to ACT now and follow the steps below to make sure their tyres can handle hazardous winter driving conditions:
A – Air pressure in tyres should be checked against the vehicle manufacturers recommended settings. Incorrect pressures can reduce your safety, use more fuel and make your tyres wear out rapidly
C – Condition of tyres should be checked to ensure they are free from lumps, cuts and bulges. Any objects embedded in the tread area should also be removed
T – Tread depths can be checked quickly and easily using the tread wear indicators position around the tyre. Click here to watch a very short video showing how simple it is to check your tyre tread depths
Road Safety Week is an initiative organised by the charity Brake and its 2014 campaign is calling on all road users to look out for each other, to help stop the five deaths and 61 serious injuries that happen every day on UK roads.
