Nexen first came to market in 1947 in South Korea. Its tyres are today available in 27 patterns, 200 sizes and 120 countries across the world. The country’s production base remains in Korea but a new factory opened in China in 2007. Like many Far East entrants to the UK market, Nexen have a reputation as a value-for-money option. This is thanks to being available at lower prices than those from many more-established brand names.
In recent years Nexen has worked on original equipment partnerships with some of the world’s largest car manufacturers. Traditionally these have included the likes of Hyundai, Daewoo, Kia and Ssangyong. However, Nexen’s tyres are now Original Equipment (OE) on various models from European marques. These include Fiat, Skoda and Volkswagen.
The partnership to supply Volkswagen involves the NBlue HD, an eco-tyre fitted to many new VW Polo models. The same tyre is factory-fitted to various Seat models and the Skoda Octavia and Rapid. It scores good ratings for wet grip under EU labelling regulation tests. Also, it is also designed for fuel efficiency and to be eco-friendly. It earned high praise in industry tests on its launch in the UK. This came not only for its wet grip but also for its competitive price.
The many Nexen passenger car tyres available in the UK feature keen pricing and good wet grip ratings. The Rodian tyre for SUV and 4×4 vehicles complements the range.
The Nfera SU1 and Nfera SU4 are solid options for passenger cars. Nexen aims both of these high-performance tyres at drivers of larger and sports models. They feature increased shoulder block strength to ensure even pressure and excellent steering response when cornering. Three deep grooves and one thinner groove across the tyre’s circumference support enhanced handling on wet roads. You can also find these high levels of wet grip on Nexen’s N6000 and N8000 tyres, both of which have sold well in the UK and are now available in a run-flat format.
