It would appear the Formula One news off the track is over-taking the racing action this season.
First there’s the battle to win the contract to supply the tyres for the sport – now a fiercely contested two horse race between tyres giants Michelin and Pirelli.
Next came the news that First India have launched legal action against Lotus, for alleged breaches of its intellectual property.
Now, in the latest twist in that tale, comes the bombshell that Lotus (yet to win a point since returning to Formula 1 this season) has just poached three designers from the rival Force India team in a bid to reverse its ailing fortunes!
Mark Smith will take over as the team’s technical director, Lewis Butler joins as chief designer and Marianne Hinson will be head of aerodynamics.
Team owner Tony Fernandes said: “I am honoured that these fantastic talents have put their faith in Lotus, and see the very bright future we have.”
Who said Formula One was boring!
