Stapleton’s Tyres Service has more than doubled its outlets after buying out Pirelli’s 56-store Central Tyre retail chain.
The deal makes Stapleton’s the fourth biggest player in the sector and increases its workshops from 45 to 101 throughout the UK.
It will also add around 300 employees to its existing work of more than 700.
With more than 70 years experience, Stapleton’s is one of the UK’s largest distributors of passenger car tyres and stockists of tyres from all major manufactures, including Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli.
The move indicates Stapleton’s confidence in the market and it believes it can apply its extensive knowledge of the fast moving tyre retail market to boost its annual profits.
Stapleton’s, which is a subsidiary of Japan’s Itochu Corporation, and Pirelli Tyre British Unit, have not disclosed the financial details of the deal.
