The annual Chinese international tyres exhibition is on course to be a success with the industry showing strong and positive support for the event.
Organisers of the CITExpo tyres show in Shanghai later this year are aiming to delivery a high quality and effective trade platform.
And despite the global slump in demand caused by the recession, the show’s organiser has given a bullish interview to the trade magazine, Tyres and Accessories.
Wilko Fong, managing director of Reliable, said that the worldwide slump had not overtly affected the running of the exhibition.
He said: “It is encouraging that our show has not been affected by the worldwide market shrinking demand.
“At the same moment of last year, this year we have recorded 5 per cent increase in number of exhibitors and 10 per cent increase in sold space.
“There were 210 exhibitors registered before June 2008, and there are 225 exhibitors registered before June 2009.
“Also, some exhibitors are feeling that the market is gradually picking up from the bottom already.”
The show takes place at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Centre between 9 and 11 September.
Much significance has been attached to the numbers in the host nation where nine is considered the luckiest of all single-digit numerals.
The “lucky once-in-century opening date of 09-09-09” certainly appears to be favouring the annual event so far.
