Top motoring expert Quentin Willson and the highly-organised FairFuelUK campaign celebrated a great victory in this week’s Budget.
But the Sunday Mirror columnist is still driving home the message about how the right tyres can help motorists get more miles out of a tank of fuel.
In his weekly column he explained: “You can save up to 2% on your fuel consumption by using Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres. They have 13% better rolling resistance, with a new tread compound and lightweight structure. They’ll also last up to 50% longer than budget tyres. Prices start from around £48 a corner.”
Quentin spearheaded the FairFuelUK campaign which lobbied the Chancellor to scrap the duty rise planned for April and dump the escalator – they even brought enough pressure to get a penny off pump prices.
But the fight goes on – as Quentin wrote in his column: “Duty in Europe is roughly 24p a litre less than it is here We’re in the EU, so why can’t we have parity?
“FairFuelUK fights on. Mr Osborne hasn’t heard the last of me…”
