Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to get to grips with his new slick tyres tomorrow when he starts testing his new MP4-24.
The supremely confident McLaren driver said: ‘I’ve driven slick tyres in the past, most recently in GP2. I’m not sure they are the same as those or have similar characteristics, so when I get to the test I will get my first feeling of that.
‘I’ve always felt that I’m quite good at understanding tyres and how to get the best out of the, so I don’t think I’ll be at a disadvantage, that’s for sure.’
The 2009 season sees slick tyres making a come back in Formula One for the first time in 11 years.
But the big news will be Lewis Hamilton and all eyes will be fixed on the world champion from Stevenage when the Grand Prix season gets underway in Melbourne in March.
etyres wish him good luck for coming season.
