Michelin tyres have stormed into the Top Ten Business Superbrands in the UK at number eight – ahead of BP and Bupa.
The French tyres makers rose from 63rd position in last years list of the Business Superbrands Top 500, which is compiled by the London based Centre for Brand Analysis.
Peter Snelling, Michelin tyres head of communications, said: ‘The Superbrands research is very thorough and it’s quite an achievement for us to be recognised as a stronger business brand than companies like BP and Bupa.
‘These are challenging times, and to be rated so highly by our peers can only be seen as a very positive sign for the future of our business.’
Google came out on top for the second year, and British Airways fell out of the Top Ten for the first time, after its disastrous launch of Terminal 5.
Now in its seventh year TCBA analysed the views of an Expert Council and over 1,500 business professionals to compile the rankings.
Other new entries into the top ten include Sony, Nokia and the London Stock Exchange, while Rolls-Royce rose from sixth to second.
