When it comes to Premiership League success, Liverpool’s fortunes are definitely on the skids – but Maxxis tyres is hoping to inflate fans spirits with a hat-trick of exclusive competitions on its website.
The tyres manufacturer, which sponsors the Anfield club, has come up with an ingenious way of combining football and tyres in a contest which offers official signed memorabilia as prizes.
Supporters are being asked to identify past and present Liverpool stars whose faces have been carefully disguised with Maxxis tyre pattern, with a signed shirt or ball up for grabs for one lucky winner.
A gallery of ‘striking legends’ is currently on www.maxxis.co.uk/winwithliverpoolfc for fans to name, before a ‘midfield maestro’ and ‘hard men’ crop of photos are published in May and June, again with faces obscured, to complete a competition hat-trick.
Maxxis hopes that the free-to-enter brain teasers will become firm crowd favourites over the coming months and will signal the start of an extensive period of sponsorship activation.
Derek McMartin, Maxxis’ managing director, said: “Our Liverpool sponsorship has been one of our biggest successes, generating a huge amount of brand recognition for us all.
“We now want to build on our achievements with some memorable activation ideas with Liverpool’s legions of fans.
“They don’t come much more memorable than some of the legends behind our competitions, which are running throughout April, May and June.”
