South Korean tyres manufacturer Kumho is blazing a trail across New York after revealing its tyres are the latest adornment to the city’s yellow taxis.
Kuhmo reports it is “excited to have its beloved tyres sported by the iconic yellow taxicabs of New York City.”
The South Korean manufacturer’s products are being fitted as replacement tyres to yellow cabs operating in Manhattan, joining several other replacement tyre manufacturers, including Goodyear, Pirelli, Michelin and Continental, which also supply the taxis.
“We have supplied two thousand tyres to NYTLC since 2008, we expect the amount of supply to continually increase through local distributors for years to come,” said a Kumho Tyres official.
There are currently around 1,500 yellow cabs ply the streets of Manhattan, assuring the tyre maker a steady stream of business.
It has also just been announced that Kumho Tyres has opened a new regional tyre warehouse in South Brunswick, New Jersey. The facility will store up to 225,000 tyres and serve as a support centre for distribution and dealer relations in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Eastern New York and Pennsylvania.
