The introduction of new tyres and rules for the 2010 Formula 1 season will bring about a change in driving styles, according to Renault’s new racer Robert Kubica.
Handling of the new narrower tyres supplied by Bridgestone was one of the hot topics of conversation in Valencia as Renault unveiled the new R30 chassis.
Kubica told reporters: ”With the narrower tyres, we will have to be careful not to wear them out too quickly and we will need to adapt the set-up and weight distribution to cope with this.
“My only hope is that the car is easy to drive, because the new rules will favour cars that are not too sensitive – we need a car that behaves consistently in a wide range of conditions.”
The new season gets underway at the Bahrain Grand Prix on the 12-14th March and with the pairing of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, plus the return of Michael Schumacher, 2010 looks set to be a year to remember.
