When it comes to safe motoring, tyres have got to be one of the most important considerations, which is why motorists who want cheap tyres and end up buying part worn’s can be taking a big risk.
There is a big difference between buying new cheap tyres, usually referred to as economy or budget, and second-hand tyres.
Last year a driver who was paralysed in an accident, believed to be caused by part worn tyres, warned other motorists to think twice before fitting them.
Keith Johnston, from Tyne and Weir, wanted cheap tyres to save himself some money.
But he said: “I thought I was saving money with part worn tyres but I’ve paid a terrible price. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have bought part worn tyres.
“Unfortunately for me it’s too late but I would urge other drivers to steer clear of part worn tyres and always opt for brand new ones.”
A police investigation blamed the part-worn tyres as a major contributory factor in the accident.
etyres supply and fit a wide range of tyres to suit all budgets, including cheap tyres from our economy range.
We also supply and fit mid-range and premium brands. All new tyres now carry a compulsory label which allows motorists to see how they perform in three key areas, wet braking, fuel efficiency and noise emission.
The products in the cheap tyres range can therefore be directly compared with the most expensive tyres.
