We had a call from a flustered mum this morning, whose car wouldn’t start due to a flat battery. Fortunately, her neighbour gave her a jump start so she should get her son to school.
Luckily, as an etyres customer, Mrs Allen knew that we don’t just operate a free mobile fitting service for tyres, we also supply and fit batteries at a time and location to suit our customers.
Now the she is back at home waiting for Ben from our Cambridge branch to nip over and fit a new battery to her Freelander – so she’ll be able to make it in time for the school run at the end of the day.
Apparently battery failure is one of the most common causes of breakdown at this time of year, because they say a car battery can lose 50 per cent of its power when the weather is cold.
A lot of people think that car batteries should last forever, but like tyres, they have a limited life.
Sluggish starting is a sure sign that your car battery is getting old. As soon as starting becomes slow, it’s time to think about buying a new battery.
To avoid problems with your battery you should make an effort to park your car in a garage, if it’s possible.
You might also want to consider investing in a good quality charger to keep your battery topped up.
