Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is pinning his hopes of Formula One success on Pirelli’s new tyres.
Last year Massa’s ambitions were hampered by problems with the Bridgestone tyres. He tried a variety of different combinations, but could not manage to bring the tyres to the right temperature and competitive grip.
Now with the arrival of Pirelli’s rubber fitted to Ferrari’s new F150 car, Massa is confident he can out-shine his team mate Fernando Alonso, who go the better of him last season.
He said: “I want to be more competitive from the first to the last race this year and I think that the Pirelli tyres will help me.”
Massa added: “I would like to start this year with positive results, and I’m confident I will do this.”
He added that in the up-coming 2011 season, which gets underway in March, that he will try to be ahead of Alonso.
Massa has been racing all-out to win the driver’s title since joining Ferrari in 2006, however, so far he has only managed second place back in 2008.
