Fundraising drivers have kitted their vehicles out with Goodyear’s market-leading 4×4 tyres and set off on an epic journey to Timbuktu.
The extreme off-road tyres will be invaluable to the 20-strong team of drivers, who have just left the tyre company’s Birmingham headquarters to complete the four week trip distributing supplies to selected charities across Africa.
Goodyear are key supporters of the annual event, which sees the 8-vehicle convoy loaded with educational, medical and general supplies which will be handed out schools, hospitals and charities.
Built to cope with the demands of hard-core environments, with increased traction properties, deep surface grip, increased mud evacuation and improved resistance to punctures, the Wrangler MT/R tyres (UK equivalent are HP) are the perfect partner for the fundraising drivers.
At the end of the journey the vehicles will be donated to good causes, including Opera Africa, Sight Savers, village by Village and Sabre Trust, to help support their vital work within the communities.
Expedition organiser Glenn McKeith said: ‘I have been off road racing on Goodyear tyres for over 16 years and use their tyres every day at my off road driving school. So it’s no surprise that I wanted Goodyear tyres for our trip.’
‘We are all really excited about the expedition and although we will experience some really tough driving conditions, it will all be worth the effort when we help these worthy causes.’
