What a pleasure it was to fit four brand new tyres for our Sonar competition winner this week – and they couldn’t have come at a better time!
Peter Hale entered the draw on behalf of his daughter, because the tyres on her trusty Fiat Punto had been issued with a cautionary warning on the vehicles last MOT and he had recently spotted signs of cracking on in the rubber.
If the car was off the road, Peter would suffer enormously, because although it belongs to Tammy, he is disabled and relies on the lifts she gives him to get out and about to doctors appointments, the shops and to see his friends and family.
“Without Tammy driving me in her car, I would struggle to go anywhere or do anything,” Peter explained. “It is a lifeline and I was so worried the tyres were making it unsafe for her to drive, especially as we are coming closer to winter. But a set of new tyres is expensive and like a lot of people we didn’t know when we would be able to buy them, so when I entered the competition I really wanted to win!
“Of course, I never expected it to happen, so when I found out I had actually won I was so happy and phoned Tammy immediately! Everyone likes winning and getting something for free, but it means so much more to us, because not having safe and legal tyres is a real worry.”
The new Sonar Primax SX-608 tyres were fitted at Peter and Tammy’s home by Joe (pictured with Peter) from etyres South Bristol and the whole experience brought back memories from his days working as a tyre fitter many years ago.
“The Sonar tyres look very smart and Tammy and I are both so happy to have won them,” Peter said. “It’s an early Christmas present for both of us.”
Tony Bowman, managing director of etyres, said: “We were so happy that Peter won our Sonar tyres competition. As he said, everyone loves winning a prize, but when it is something you really need, as opposed to just want, it is extra special.”
