We are delighted that our Kingston branch has been helping out the Tesla showroom in London, fitting new tyres on the ‘biblically fast’, electric-powered Roadster sports cars.
Mark, who runs the Kingston branch, said: “They are fantastic cars and we are really happy to be helping out with the tyres.”
The swanky HQ is situated opposite Harrods in London’s exclusive Knightsbridge district and the cars are kept underground and brought up to street level in a lift to have their tyres replaced as part of the servicing routine.
Geoff Hurst, the service manager for Tesla, said: “etyres were recommended to us and we are very pleased with the service provided by Mark and his team.”
At the moment there are only 35-40 Tesla’s – which sell for around £100,000 – on the UK roads, but their popularity is spreading, with 300 sold in Europe.
The Roadster accelerates faster than virtually any other car on the road, making it the only production car faster than a Porsche and twice as energy efficient as a Prius.
Even Top Gear’s petrol-head Jeremy Clarkson was won over. He said: “God almighty, wave goodbye to dial-up, say hello to the world of broadband motoring.
“I cannot believe this – that’s biblically quick. This car is electric, literally. The top speed may only be 125mph but there’s so much torque it does 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds. Not bad from a motor the size of a watermelon and which has only one moving part.”
