Congratulations to the etyres Head Office team who took part in the 5km Insane Terrain Mud and Obstacle run – they smashed their £500 fundraising target and covered themselves in muck and glory!
Dean led his four-strong team to raise vital funds for Cam Sight, a Cambridge-based charity which has supported his young son Ryan since he was five-months-old, as they slipped, slid and waded up to their necks in muddy pond water to the finish line.
Now four-years-old, Ryan, who was diagnosed with Ocular Albinism and associated Nystagmum at just 10 weeks of age, was on hand to see his dad and the team complete the course and raise £653.33 for the charity.
Dean said: “I was a really fun day! It certainly lived up to our expectations on the mud front and we all got soaking wet and filthy dirty.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported and sponsored us. The money raised for Cam Sight will make a big difference to so many peoples lives.”
The support Ryan and his family receive from Cam Sight allows him the chance to play and interact with children that have similar conditions and his parents the chance to meet other families and benefit from mutual support and advice.
The hard work is over now for Dean, Alex, Tom, Chris and Tony, but supporters can still show their support for Dean and the team by pledging a donation on the JustGiving website at https://www.justgiving.com/Dean-van-Wijk-Cam-Sight/.
