There are times when a ‘make do and mend’ mentality is called for, like wrapping a bit of sticky tape round the arm of a pair of broken glasses or gluing the handle back on a favourite coffee mug.
However, these are the last things you want to do if you suffer a punctured tyre…and if you think that is stating the obvious, take a look at this photo snapped by one of our etyres Milton Keynes and Luton tyre fitters.
The customer had suffered a damaged sidewall resulting in a puncture, but instead of replacing it with the spare or pulling over to safety immediately, the driver patched it up with some glue and sellotape, so they could continue driving on it!
Fortunately, the driver contacted our etyres team before the situation got any worse and led to an accident, but there is a time and a place for a dodgy DIY job and it is not when it comes to your tyres.
etyres offer a mobile puncture repair service, which means we come to you so you don’t have to risk causing further damage to your punctured tyre or wheel by driving to a garage or tyre depot for a repair.
All our puncture repairs are carried out in compliance with the British Standard BS AU 159 and our fitters will always remove the tyre from the wheel to fully inspect any damage and judge whether a puncture can be safely repaired or not.
We are happy to report that in our experience around 60 per cent of all punctures examined can be repaired safely and spare you the cost of having to buy a brand new tyre.
So if you suffer a damaged tyre, remember to stick to the experts and call etyres immediately to book our puncture repair service.
