Bridgestone tyres has been presented with a special supplier award by Daimler in recognition of its exceptional efforts to keep business running as normal following the 2011 catastrophe which rocked Japan.
The Japanese tyres manufacturer received the “Special Award for Partnership” at the Daimler Supplier Award 2011 ceremony at the Mercedes Centre, in Stuttgart, Germany, last month.
Edwin Van der Stad, Director of OE Business for Bridgestone Europe, accepted the award and said: “Bridgestone is honoured to receive this special award after the extremely difficult situation caused by the catastrophe in Japan.
“Daimler has ambitious goals for the future and Bridgestone looks forward to working closely with this premium car manufacturer in all regions of the world, in both the commercial vehicle and passenger car markets.”
Daimler awarded its Special Award for Partnership to a group of 34 Japanese key suppliers in recognition of their exceptional efforts to overcome the disruption caused by the devastating earthquake and tsunami and find solutions to keep the supply chain running, with minimal effect on Daimler business.
Bridgestone supplies a wide range of Daimler passenger cars and commercial vehicles with original equipment tyres. Two of the most recent passenger car fitment contracts are with the new Bridgestone Turanza T001 touring tyre for the Mercedes B-Class.
