Heavy showers, leaves on the road and a glaring low sun all add up to potential disaster on the roads for motorists during the autumn months.
But if you want to reduce the risk of accidents give your tyres a thorough check this weekend.
Tyres must be properly inflated, if they have too much or too little air it will affect their responsiveness, especially if you need to brake suddenly. Check your manufacturers handbook to see what the correct pressure is for your vehicle.
Your next job is to make sure your tyres have plenty of grip. The minimum legal tread limit is 1.6mm. A simple way to make sure your tyres are legal is to insert a 20p coin on its side into the tread grooves at several intervals across the tread.
If you can see the outer band there is a good chance the tyres are illegal and you should get them replaced as soon as possible.
If you need new tyres it is worth remembering that etyres offers a mobile tyre fitting service and because our overheads are low we pass the savings on to our customers in the form of cheaper prices – up to 40% lower than the leading high street tyre depots.
