With weathermen forecasting a bright and sunny weekend we suspect a lot of caravan and motorhome owners will be heading out on to the highway to enjoy a bit of a break.
So we thought we’d offer a gentle reminder about the importance of making sure your caravan and motorhome tyres are in tip-top condition.
Failing to make critical checks to your caravan and motorhome tyres before a journey, could result in a number of tyre-related problems which could see you stranded at the side of the road or even lead to a accident.
One of the most important areas for owners to check is that their tyre pressures are correct. Pressure should be checked when the caravan or motorhome tyres are cold.
It is also advisable to give the caravan and motorhome tyres a thorough visual inspection too, paying particular attention to the sidewall area of the tyre which may have suffered from UV damage over the winter months and will be evident from signs of the rubber cracking.
Any objects embedded in the tread area should also be removed and tread depths should be checked to ensure they comply with the legal minimum regulations of 1.6mm or tread across the central three quarters of the tyre around its entire circumference.
