If we had reported this story seven days ago, you might have thought it was our idea of a little April Fools joke, but apparently it’s true!
A tyres company has outraged the international women’s rights centre, La Strada Ukraine, with its controversial TV advert.
The Ukranian group have lashed out at tyres retailer Vianor’s, the biggest chain of tyre stores in the Nordic countries, because of their insensitive commercial. The group and want it banned from the country’s Inter TV channel because it is insulting to children.
La Strada said the advert, which reportedly shows parents ironically exchanging children for tyres, is a violent insult of children’s rights.
A spokesperson said: ‘It represents disrespect towards children, panhuman values and a manifestation of parents’ irresponsibility and exploitation of a kid’s image.’
Apparently, nobody at Vianor’s parent company, tyres manufacturers Nokian, was available for comment on the subject.
