It comes as no surprise that the smell of freshly baked bread is top of the league of scents that make us Brits happy.
But who’d have guessed the whiff of rubber tyres would come storming into the chart at Number 20 – just two behind roses!
According to the study by www.OnePoll.com, which surveyed 4,000 Brits, freshly baked bread, followed by clean sheets, freshly mown grass, fresh flowers and freshly ground coffee were the top five of the list.
Stephen Weller, director of communications at the International Fragrance Association, said: ‘Scent has always played an important part in our everyday life – wherever we go, we are surrounded by different smells, some good and some bad.”
