Winter tyres are on many motorists minds at the moment, as they weigh up the pros-and-cons of fitting them to their vehicle, so we thought we’d share the results of the latest international tyre test.
Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-80 was the clear winner of German automobile club ADAC, TCS and ÖAMTC’s new SUV/CUV winter tyre tests (size 215/65 R16 tested on a Volkswagen Tiguan).
But the cause for celebration did not end there for the Japanese tyres manufacturer, with its Blizzak LM-32 also receiving the association’s highest snow ranking.
The Blizzak LM-80 was labelled “very recommendable” by the ADAC, awarding the tyre top grades for fuel consumption and ice performance, with very good ratings for wet and snow braking. The tyre was also recently lauded also triumphed in the recent ACE (Auto Club Europe) and GTÜ (German Association for Technical Inspection) winter tyre tests.
The Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-32, which was also hailed in the AutoBild winter tyre test earlier this month, was one of only three brands out of 42 tested to receive the highest rating of “very recommendable” for overall performance.
The report concluded: “Blizzak LM-32 shows excellent handling and short braking distances in all conditions with good aquaplaning performance, high durability and good comfort.”
