Bridgestone tyres has amassed an enviable string of top ratings in recent European comparative tyre tests.
The Japanese tyres manufacturer has maintained its firm grip on the premium market with the plaudits and has released a round-up of a selection of the best commendations from 2010. They include:
“The wet performance benchmark” and “test winner” Sport Auto magazine, Germany
Just a few weeks after its European launch, Bridgestone’s new UHP flagship was declared “the wet performance benchmark” in the 2010 Sport Auto magazine summer tyre test of 11 leading UHP tyre brands. In wet and dry testing that included “durability” for the first time, the S001 scores maximum points for wet handling, driving behaviour, straight hydroplaning resistance and dry braking… and is declared “highly recommendable” and “test winner”.
“Balanced performance” and “highly recommendable” Auto Zeitung, Germany
A similar “highly recommendable” vote of confidence comes from Auto Zeitung magazine’s 2010 test of 9 top UHP brands. Evaluated on the full range of wet and dry criteria, with rolling resistance included for the first time, the Potenza S001 is singled out for its “balanced performance, convincing braking and lateral grip, and precise steering”.
Turanza ER300 Ecopia
Bridgestone’s eco-friendly Turanza ER300 Ecopia has been extensively tested versus other fuel-efficient tyres in 2010 and the conclusion is clear: motorists don’t have to sacrifice wet safety if they are looking for fuel savings.
“Good balance between safety and rolling resistance… Highly recommendable” Auto Zeitung, Germany
“Fast and secure on the wet with high reserves for aquaplaning” says Auto Zeitung and “achieves good results on all properties related to safety criteria. A very well-balanced tyre…highly recommendable.”
“High safety for hydroplaning” and “highly recommendable” Auto Bild, Germany
Auto Bild evaluated fuel-saving performance and safety levels in a special test of leading “eco-tyres”, published on 6 August 2010. Awarding its top rating of “very recommendable” to only three brands, Auto Bild singles out Turanza ER300 Ecopia for its “balanced characteristics in wet and dry, high safety for hydroplaning, good wet braking and low noise, while providing satisfactory fuel savings.”
“Performs best as a whole … N° 1 in corner hydroplaning resistance” Tuulilasi, Finland
Finland’s biggest auto magazine, Tuulilasi, tested six leading energy-saving summer tyre brands in 2010. The verdict: Turanza ER300 Ecopia is ranked “best overall” and test winner, with high points for straight and corner hydroplaning, dry handling and braking, and lateral wet grip.
“Balanced performance … good braking and hydroplaning resistance” Gute Fahrt, Germany
Gute Fahrt awards Turanza ER300 Ecopia an overall “Good Plus” for wet, dry, comfort and rolling resistance performance, with top marks on dry handling and braking.
“Highly recommendable” Auto Club Europe, Germany
The Turanza ER300 (without Ecopia compound technology) continues meanwhile to achieve top results. After receiving the highest accolade from Europe’s two largest motoring magazines in 2009 (“highly recommendable” from Auto Bild and ADAC Motorwelt), Germany’s Auto Club Europe (ACE) awards the ER300 its top 3-star “highly recommendable” rating in 2010.
“Very well balanced” and “highly recommendable” ADAC Motorwelt, Germany
Another top 3-star rating for Bridgestone in the UHP category comes for Potenza RE050A in the ADAC Motorwelt summer-tyre tests in March 2010. “Very well balanced tyre…very good on dry” is the verdict from this test of 17 brands in the high-performance size
225/45 R17W/Y. The tests include 5 low-priced tyres which receive the ADAC “not recommendable” label.
Dueler H/P Sport 4×4
“Convincing with balanced performance… highly recommendable” Auto Zeitung, Germany
The Auto Zeitung 4×4 summer tyre test confirms the high-level balanced on-road performance designed into the Dueler H/P Sport by Bridgestone. In a test of 8 leading 4×4 tyre brands (255/55 R18) on a BMW X5 Diesel, the Dueler H/P Sport is judged particularly effective on-road with the highest score – and only tyre to receive full points – for wet lateral grip.
