For all the Formula One fans who think that the fierce competition and rivalry exists only on the track you want to get hold of a copy of Jonathan Noble’s article for Autosport.
Apparently it’s the pits – literally – where some of the tensest battles are fought, especially when it comes to changing tyres.
Noble lifts the lid on life in the pit lane with his feature “The secrets of Formula 1 pitstops”.
It’s here that teams can gain a tenth of a second while changing the tyres at the side of the track in the garages.
According to Autosport: “While much of the focus for fans is whether Sebastian Vettel can find a few tenths to secure another pole position, or whether a new front wing can help McLaren overhaul Red Bull Racing, the competition between pitstop crews is even closer.”
