If you are looking to buy new 4×4/SUV or summer tyres you might be keen to learn the outcome of the latest Auto Bild tyre tests in these categories.
The joint top award went to the Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV and Nokian Line SUV – both tyres were rated ‘exemplary’ in the Auto Bild Allrad publication, which caters to the 4×4 and SUV segment. For its latest issue, the German publication put 11 size 215/65 R16 tyres through their paces on a Volkswagen Tiguan, according to Tyres and Accessories.
It also awarded ‘recommended’ ratings to Pirelli’s Scorpion Verde and the Continental CrossContact, which were closely followed by the ‘good’ rated Dunlop Sport BluResponse. Four other tyres – the Vredestein Sportrac 5, Falken Ziex ZE914 EcoRun, Firestone Destination HP and Hankook Dynapro HP2 – were handed a ‘satisfactory’ rating. The Sonar Conqueror SX-9 and Cooper Zeon XST A were ‘not recommended’.
While over on the pages of Auto Bild Sportscars, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo has been voted the winner of its latest summer tyre test. The German publication evaluated seven 19-inch tyres on a BMW M4 configured for 255/35 at the front and 275/35 R19Y on the rear axle.
According to Tyres and Accessories, the Ventus S1 evo finished the test ahead of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, both of which also received an ‘exemplary’ rating. The Vredestein’s Ultrac Vorti and the Continental SportContact 5P were rated ‘good’, while the Nankang Noble Sport NS-20 was deemed ‘satisfactory’. Finishing in last place was the Maxxis VS-01 Victra Sport Zero One, which received an ‘acceptable’ rating.
