Apollo tyres has appointed Marc Luyten as its chief marketing officer to spearhead its global marketing efforts for the company’s key brands.
Luyten, currently director of sales and marketing for Apollo Vredestein B.V., Apollo’s Netherlands-based tyres subsidiary, will take up the post on 1st January 2010 and operate from offices in Brussels.
Neeraj Kanwar, managing director of Apollo, said: “In a rapidly growing organization like ours, Marc Luyten and his team will be bringing much-needed synergy across locations, and adding enormous value by building each of these product brands with their distinctive value proposition.”
The global marketing structure reflects the integration of Apollo Tyres India and its two major purchases—Dunlop Tyres in South Africa in 2006, and Vredestein Banden in May 2009.
Both companies have since undergone a name change and have been registered as Apollo Tyres South Africa Pty. Ltd. and Apollo Vredestein B.V., respectively.
The acquisitions resulted in a range of product brands in the Apollo stable, each of which has different brand strengths in different regions. The team under Luyten will focus on enhancing each product brand’s position across the globe, both with automobile manufacturers and in the replacement market, Apollo said.
“Moving into a true global company now brings all of us around the world phenomenal opportunities,” Luyten said. “The market has been inspiring us for so many years and will continue to encourage us in our thinking and acting as a market and customer-driven company.”
Apollo said a separate team, under Kanwar’s direction, will oversee corporate image and brand-building initiatives for Apollo Tyres Ltd, based at the headquarters in Gurgaon.
