We are delighted to hear that this years annual tyres safety month was ‘bigger and better than ever before’, thanks to the efforts of TyreSafe.
The UK’s leading online tyres safety organisation put a tremendous amount of work into making October’s campaign a huge success, including securing a five-minute feature on the BBC1 TV’s The One Show.
The 2011 campaign focused on driving in winter, and as well as educating drivers about the added safety benefits of fitting winter weather tyres, it also highlighted the importance of adequate tread depth and correct pressures.
Notable achievements included the launch of TyreSafe’s new website, which contains an animated tyre safety advice video and a new winter tyre safety movie filmed on an ice rink.
The five minute report on The One Show highlighted the dangers of driving on illegal tyres by showing the dramatic increase in stopping distances when using tyres with insufficient tread depth.
One startled motorist, who had been found by the show’s production team to be driving on illegal tyres, was then shown how to check their tyre tread depth quickly and easily using TyreSafe’s 20p test.
Well done once more to everyone at TyreSafe – you’ve got your work cut out to match this year’s success in 2012, but we’re sure you’ll pull out all the stops again!
