Meet Bridgestone’s New Flagship Tyre – The Turanza 6

Bridgestone have officially unveiled their new flagship tyre – the Bridgestone Turanza 6. As a summer touring tyre, it offers outstanding performance in wet conditions and an overall best-in-class driving experience in terms of safety and comfort. It also further cements Bridgestone’s E8 agenda with its high focus on sustainability and environmental friendliness.

Having been tested by independent TÜV SÜD against a range of competitors, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 proved itself as the best-in-class in straight line performance, cornering manoeuvres as well as achieving top marks for wet performance with its EU label grade of A in wet grip.

With a keen earn for consumer needs and requirement, Bridgestone took its time in understanding exactly which aspects of a tyre motorists felt most important. It was found that 86% of drivers stated that wet performance was one of the key qualities in what makes a safe tyre. Moreover, wet conditions were identified as one of the key challenges faced by motorists which they felt cannot be ignored when selecting a tyre. This inspired Bridgestone to place a key emphasis on creating an exceptionally safe tyre which is uncompromising in wet and rainy conditions, further adding to their long-term mission of creating a safer automotive experience.

A Technology-Driven Evolution

With a 22% mileage improvement compared to its predecessor, the Turanza 6 is confidently furthers Bridgestone’s mission to improve sustainable mobility. Similarly, the Turanza 6 sees a 4% reduction in rolling resistance when compared to its predecessor. As for its EU label, the Turanza 6 has been awarded an A-grade in rolling resistance which further cements it as an environmentally friendly option for motorists. Thanks to its new aerodynamic rimguard – developed to reduce air resistance on the tyre while driving – Bridgestone’s constant commitment to R&D and innovation is setting a new standard in tyre technology.

Utilising numerous state-of-the-art technologies, Bridgestone have developed a unique tread pattern, compound with careful construction and exceptional attention to detail. Included within these technologies are TECHSYN and ENLITEN which serve to further optimise performance while keeping sustainability at heart.

The design and development process for the Bridgestone Turanza 6 also had sustainability at its core from the start. It was developed using Bridgestone’s Virtual Tyre Technology. This technology enables a tyre to be digitally designed, tested and and evaluated any physical protype needs to be built at all. Bridgestone were able to accurately and successfully trial and test the Turanza 6’s performance in a range of conditions. This meant a saving of 21% of raw materials and CO2 emissions, while also cutting 60,000 kilometers and 7.7 tonnes of CO2 from physical outdoor testing – a big win for sustainability.

EV and Hybrid Friendly

The Turanza 6’s ENLITEN technology makes for a strong choice for both electric vehicles and hybrids. Its low rolling resistance helps to save battery life while its increased wear tolerance supports higher weight and higher torque. Additionally, the tyre’s reduced noise levels create all-round pleasurable driving experience and compliments the quietness of an electric engine.

The Bridgestone Turanza 6 will be officially launching across the European region from January 2023 in a range of options – 136 sizes from 16” to 22’’ in the replacement summer line-up for both passenger cars and on-road SUVs.

Across the next few months, Bridgestone is set to reveal several partnerships with leading car manufacturers who have chosen custom-engineered Bridgestone Turanza 6 tyres as original fitments for their new car models.
