Porsche epitomises the sportscar experience like no other vehicle on the road. Porsche designs and manufacturers some of the highest performance cars in the world and introduced the N-rated tyre to meet its vehicles’ capabilities. Unique to Porsche, an ‘N’ rating is given to tyres that have been approved by Porsche engineers in Weissach during the vehicle’s development and testing stage.
Advances in tyre technology mean that tyre wear or even mixing different brands, patterns or ‘N’ numbers, even if from the same manufacturer, could result in an increase in road noise and significant changes in shock absorption, steering and smooth handling. etyres stock a wide range of ‘N’ rated tyres for all Porsche models to maintain your car’s performance.
Here are some examples of tyres fitted to some Porsche models – but we advise you to check the size of the tyres currently fitted to your vehicle before placing your order. You can find this information on the sidewall of your existing tyre.
Porsche 911
Tyres make a major contribution to the ability of high performance sports cars to ‘stick’ to the road and deliver the optimum driving experience. The Yokohama Advan Sport tyre can be found on the 911 as can the The Pirelli P Zero, and the The Toyo R888 tyre is also approved as a Porsche track day tyre, used by a large selection of Porsche 911 track day drivers, as well as the The Michelin Pilot Sport track day tyre to achieve unprecedented performance. etyres stock a wide range of N-rated tyres for the Porsche 911, for the most demanding drivers.
Porsche Boxster
When it comes to driving thrills the Porsche Boxster is supreme. Porsche tyres need to deliver the highest dry-weather handling as well as a set of wet-grip properties that go above and beyond. The Yokohama AVS- S1-Z and AVS Sport are fitted to the Boxster and Boxster S and the The Michelin Pilot Sport, The Pirelli P Zero range and The Bridgestone Potenza S-02 all provide sports performance, low noise and outstanding grip.
Porsche Cayman
Described as the most entertaining Porsche on offer, the Cayman is agile on the road yet stable, with unbeatable grip and steering response. etyres stock a complete range of specialist Porsche tyres to provide the maximum grip, braking performance and to maintain the superb handling Porsche intended for the Cayman. Tyre choices include the The Michelin Pilot Sport 3, The Pirelli P Zero, and ContiSportContact 3.

The purpose of this table is to denote proper wheelnut torque tightening settings, and air pressure, for most common tyres on the related vehicles.
Finding replacement tyres for Porsche vehicles is not difficult, but that is only part of the equation. Getting the right Porsche Tyres for a cars, vans, trucks, or SUVs may involve some choices if the driver's preferences, and driving habits, require different Porsche Car Tyres than were originally fitted by Porsche.
Changing Porsche Tyres
Changing Porsche Car Tyres should require 3 primary choices:
- The overall quality of the tyre (durability, wear, ratings, cost) desired for the Porsche
- The speed rating that the Porsche Tyres should have depending upon the driver's average and occasional "fastest-driven" speed
- Deciding if local and/or regional weather patterns merit keeping two sets of tyres for dry vs. wet road conditions
Further, if an owner wishes to put tyres on different sized wheels for the Porsche, a careful decision about what size tyres will be valid for that Porsche is required. If, for example, a larger wheel size is desired, then the profile (height) and/or the width must be reduced to avoid damaging the drive train. A 195/65/15 tyre for that Porsche, for instance, on a 17" rim, could legitimately become a 165/65 (narrower) or a 195/55 (shorter) but could not stay a 195/65 as before. Using our handy calculator for changing tyre sizes should be all you need to help you find the right tyre size.
All tyres for any Porsche vehicle should be fitted using the proper torque, according to the manufacturer's specifications. Torque is the amount of pressure used to tighten the wheel nuts. This table of torque settings displays the torque settings, the recommended air pressure to put into tyres and the alternate tyre size for Porsche models.
