Yokohama Tyres was one of the first manufacturers to adopt green technologies. The company places great importance on the environmental impact of its tyres. Ecological aspects of the industrial processes through which they are produced are a high priority, too.
Yokohama is involved in many forms of motorsport and has research partnerships with car designers across the world. These focuses mean that Yokohama is one of the best-known and most popular international tyre brands.
Yokohama Tyres flagship range is named Advan. The latest in that range, the Advan Sport V105, is a premium performance tyre, factory-fitted to many sports models. These include the Audi TT RS, RS6 and RS7, Mercedes-Benz SL and SLK, Mazda MX5 and various Porsches, including the Panamera and Cayenne. This tyre has been well-received in many industry tests. It has won awards from Motorsport magazine in France and Evo magazine in the UK. As those references would suggest, it is a premium tyre, balancing comfort with high standards of performance.
Other Advan Sport tyres share many of the same attributes, with a focus on exceptional handling and braking in all driving conditions. They are popular with many vehicle manufacturers and are original equipment to many Lexus, Audi, Volkswagen, Lotus, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz models. These tyres are also available SUV and winter tyre formats.
At the other end of the scale, Yokohama’s Bluearth 1 is ‘A’-rated for fuel economy. It is thus a popular choice for lower-mileage day-to-day use, suitable for many smaller and medium-sized cars. Many Nissan and Mitsubishi cars are factory-fitted with these tyres. They are designed for low noise and excellent grip in all conditions.
Bluearth tyres are the most fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly range Yokohama has ever produced. These are designed exclusively for small and compact cars such as the Smart and Toyota’s Auris and Yaris. The company claims that over 80% renewable materials are used in this tyre’s construction. It is also among the quietest tyres in its class.
Yokohama has had a long involvement in producing tyres for the 4×4 and SUV market. Its Geolandar range is available in a range of different specifications to cater for different proportions of on-road and off-road driving. A lengthy list of 4x4s leave the factory wearing Advan or Geolandar tyres from Yokohama. Among them are SUVs from Audi and Lexus, the VW Touareg and the Toyota RAV4. These Geolandar tyres are designed to offer passenger-car-like comfort, even when being driven off the road. They are known for their durability as well as their high levels of grip in off-road scenarios and when used in the wet.
The Yokohama W.Drive is from their winter range. It is available in fittings to suit compact cars, larger vehicles and 4x4s. These tyres are designed to offer low rolling resistance, and therefore high fuel economy, without compromising on safety or handling in winter conditions.
