Are you going away over the Bank Holiday weekend? Have you checked your tyres recently? Checking your tyres can save your life. Alex from e tyres Southport explains how to check your tyres for tread depth and pressure. “You need to check that all your tyres are above the legal limit of 1.6mm of tread. Tyres now all come with small bumps between the grooves in the tread. These are the “wear bars” they are exactly 1.6mm high and so when your tyres are worn down to this level it means they are on the legal limit. Many tyre manufacturers actually recommend changing your tyres at 3m as this is when the wet braking performance of the tyre starts to decrease dramatically. Additionally you need to check that all tyres are set to the correct tyre pressures as required by your vehicle handbook.
